They always say the first step is the hardest and I have to say uni is no different, I've only been at uni for just under three months and I've already my emotions about being here have gone back and forward several times... 'do i quit, do i go home, do i stay, is this the right course etc...' it might seem at times that your the only one that is feeling like this and everyone else is loving it and getting on fine but its not always the case behind closed doors everyone's different.
So here are my top four tips to 'surviving' or coping with it;
- Ring home daily; if all you want is your family make an effort to speak to them daily it will help you realise their always there for you and will do anything to reassure you that whatever you decide is what is best for you...
- Talk to someone; Whether it be a friend, family member or someone who works for the uni they will listen and could help you decide whats best for you...
- Push through it; remember its your future and if this is what you really want just push on through be at uni when you need to be but at weekends go home it will make it that much easier and you have going home at the end of the week to look forward to...
- Finally MAKE FRIENDS; it doesnt have to be your flatmates or classmates try and make friends with people from other flats and classes, join a society. For example I joined the Netball team as a social member and it meant that ive met people of all years and from other teams and it gives me something to do on a wednesday evening...
I hope this helps anyone who has felt or feeling alone or down at uni...
