OK so its just a more grown-up way of saying half-term but still it has become my savior its giving me a chance to start and catch-up on my assignment, give me time with my family and help me sort my head out about what I actually want from uni at the moment...
So being a student and everything is all fun and games at first but after a while the drinking gets boring (sorry but it does) the work gets harder and your head feels like it could explode 90% of the time... its because of this that my uni give us a 'reading week' half way between Christmas and the start of lectures some people would say its a bit of a cop out for the lecturers but I like the idea as it means those who haven't quite settled in (a bit like me if feel at times) can go home evaluate and see their families for a long period of time...
I think its hard in the first year of uni no matter how many friends you make or how often you see your family your always going to get those times where you get homesick or lonely but its nothing to be ashamed of even though they may not admit it everyone gets it from time to time but just try and enjoy yourself and if you dont think your settling in or that your institution is right for you talk to family, friends, lecturers... anyone they'll always give an honest opinion and remember its about your life not anyone elses...
