So it's getting to that time where first assignments for modules will be nearing there hand-in deadline personally I have three due in on the 9th and another due in on the 30th which will no doubt be joined by more in the coming week (sad Laura) so I thought it would be nice for me to share some of the tips i use whilst writing my assignments so here we go;
- Highlight Key Terms and Phrases; after your lecturer gives you the assignment remit they will normally explain what they expect and the general way in which to go with the assignment, during this time if you notice any 'KEY' things in the remit this will be helpful with the next tip.
- Make Notes in class; making notes in class is always a good help no matter if you've got an assignment or not but when the lecturer is explaining what the days lecture is going to be about look at your remit and see if the lecture topic goes with any key term so you know whether during your notes you should highlight any key information that may help with the assignment as well as whilst writing the notes it would be helpful to relate to the assignment topic.
- Take Breaks; don't think OK today I'm just going to sit down and work through until I finish this bit of work because you wont, you'll get bored and then completely stop for the day.. make sure you take breaks every 30 minutes to an hour to allow your brain to 'recharge'.
- PLAN; it's important that before you think about writting anything final that you plan the order of your essay, whats going in it and how many paragraphs its going to split into, its also important to make sure you distribute the word count across the different sections.
- DONT MISS THE DEADLINE; just like it says on the tin.. you dont want to fail after all!!
