So as I'm going to glasgow in just over a week I thought it best to come home and collect some warm and waterproof clothing for the trip as well as a dress for a family friends wedding next weekend, it feels so good to be back in familiar surrounding and my nice warm comfy bed.
So some may know that the conservative conference is being held at the ICC in birmingham so as I was walking up to the station yesterday they were preparing for it to start next week putting up road blockings wire fencing temporary cafes and buildings for those involved but the thing that shocked me most was not the police presence but the presence of bomb squad teams with their dogs searching the surrounding area and manholes up and down broad street for bombs with giant blow torches.
Has it really come to point where manholes are having to be glued down and hotel entrances have turnstiles at them of people to feel safe in cities that already have a massive police presence!
Anyway on a nicer note as i was walking through town on Wednesday there were a number of market stalls promoting and selling including one for a bird sanctuary where they had owls and a sparrow hawk sitting out on logs to show off they all looked so cute i just had to take pictures so here you go;
