There is nothing better after a proper British Sunday lunch than settling down with family and sharing out a bowl of warm straight out of the oven crumble and pouring over warm custard or a drizzle of cream...
Ok maybe not every sunday but those special occasions surrounded by family is a really comfort deserving of a good comfort food, my perfect winter warmer is a Raspberry and Apple crumble with a drizzle of cream so here is my recipe for you to try out...
Start of with the base by peeling and coring five or six large cooking apples and cut them into medium sizes chunks and put in a pan with a tablespoon of warm and slowly heat until they start to become 'mushy' and add as much brown sugar as you feel they need to counteract the sharpness of the natural juices...
Place the apple mix into an oven proof dish and allow to cool before adding the raspberries I normally add one and a half regular sized punnets of raspberries but add as many as you like or replace them for other soft berries such as sliced strawberries, blackberries or blueberries...
Top the finished base with a crumble mix you can either buy a pre brought mix or mix 100g of butter
160g of flour 50g of brown and 50g of caster sugar together using your fingertips until you get a fine breadcrumb texture and place it over the fruit mixture...
